For the disabled patrons and their carers, Lyric Theatre offers discounted tickets. The Box Office is equipped with induction loop, whereas an infra-red system is installed within the auditorium. On the immensely famous Shaftesbury Avenue, Lyric Theatre was the second one to be built and is currently the oldest surviving theatre. In the year 1888, Lyric Theatre made its official opening and since then has retained its various fascinating original features like façade of an original 1767 house front and red and gold bars and foyer area. IN the year 1932, Lyric Theatre underwent refurbishment. Since 1960, building of the Lyric Theatre is listed under Grade II. During the initial years, Lyric theatre mainly concentrated on the comic operas such as productions of Dorothy and The Mountebanks were immensely popular amongst the London audience. Nimax Theatre Group is the current owner of the Theatre and hosted a series of plays and musical such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Death of a Salesman, The School Musical, Cabaret, Thriller Live and even Eddie Izzard’s Stripped tour.
