new London show, The Importance of Being Earnest at the magnificent Vaudeville
Theatre! The classic satire on the Victorian sensibilities along
with witty dialogue by Oscar Wilde is an enjoyable show to watch out for. The
story of The Importance of Being Earnest revolves around two characters
Algernon Moncrieff and John Worthing.
Both the men
have created fictitious characters to get away from annoying commitments. John
has created an imaginative brother, Earnest and informed about him to him ward
that he is a rogue. Thus, this enables him to take trips out of the city in the
guise of Earnest.
On the other
hand, Algernon created a sickly friend with the name of Bunbury. Due to this
sickly friend, he is able to go out of the country and avoid tiring social
engagements. Jack desires to marry Gwendolyn, however her mother Lady Bracknell
forbids as she is dismayed to know that he was picked up from a handbag as a
baby. The situation becomes more complicated when John turns up who has been
pretending to be Earnest, his imaginary brother.
Under the superb
direction of Adrian Noble, The Importance of Being Earnest will be directed. He
is the former artistic director of Royal Shakespeare Company and won more than
20 Olivier award nominations.
The two hours
and twenty minutes show is recommended for 8+ kids. The Importance of Being
Earnest will be an enjoyable experience for those who enjoy farce and satire on
the Victorian sensibilities. Moreover, complete treat for the fans of Oscar
