on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown
Get ready to
enjoy the musical adaptation of maverick film director, Pedro Almodovar’s
movie, Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown at the Playhouse Theatre! The
Oscar nominated movie was released in the year 1988. On December 20th
2014, the show will be start playing which features a book by Jeffrey Lane,
whereas lyrics penned by David Yazbeck. The superb team is also behind the
latest Westend Blockbuster show, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which is doing well
at the Savoy Theatre!
Tony Award
winner, Barlett Sher directed the brilliant show, he was also the director of
Broadway production. Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown won prestigious
three Tony award nominations.
Women on the
Verge of Nervous Breakdown revolve around a TV voice over actress Pepa
portrayed by the comedy legend Tamsin Greig and her friends. The story is set
during the later 20th century Madrid and deals with their lives and
relationships.
Being a voice
artist since 1991, Greig will be in her comfort zone, as she is portraying the
role of Debbie Aldridge on long running BBC Radio 4 soap The Archers. The black
comedy by Almodovar was inspired from on the 1930’s play Human Voice by Jen
Cocteau starring Carmen Maura and Antonio Banderas.
Women on the
Verge of Nervous Breakdown will be the musical debut for Greig and she is
excited to be the part of this superb team. Some of the famous roles of Greig
are Channel 4 Sitcoms Green Wing and Black Books, BBC sitcom Episodes with
Stephen Mangan and Matt Le Blanc and Channel 4 comedy Friday Night Dinner.
For the 2006
RSC’s spectacular production, Much Ado About Nothing, Greig won Olivier award
for portraying the role of Beatrice. Her other stage credentials include The
Royal Court’s production Jumpy and Longing at Hampstead Theatre. So get set to
catch Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown this December as the show is
coming for the limited season of 20 week.
